Hastings Philharmonic Choir

After our very enjoyable Christmas Carol Concert, which was so well received by our enthusiastic audience, we turn our attention the wonderful German Requiem by Brahms. The music is outstanding and the atmosphere created by the strong melodies is a very special experience. The text is drawn from the German Luther Bible in contrast to the more usual Catholic Requiem Mass and the tone is humanist as well as sacred.

We shall perform this on the 14th May in Christ Church, St. Leonards and the programme will include a wonderful treat, the Violin Concerto by Sibelius. The choir will be delighted to welcome back popular international violinist Ayşen Ulucan, who has previously performed the Brahms Violin Concerto for us, and received a resounding reception from the audience.

We are a very friendly choir of around 80 members, singing traditional choral works and less familiar pieces that expand our repertoire. New tenors and basses are particularly welcome for this concert.

We meet at the Tabernacle in Cambridge Road, at 7.00p.m. on Wednesdays. For more information about joining call 01424 431442, or visit the website at www.hastingsphilchoir.org.uk.
