Hastings Philharmonic Choir

Rehearsals are now in full flow for our concert on April 11 at St Mary in the Castle.

Carmina Burana becomes more and more exciting as we become increasingly familiar with the music. We can now fully appreciate the sense of the lyrics and the impact of the rhythms, and can do justice to this wonderful, boisterous cantata. The augmented choir will also include children for whom there are specific parts.

An extra delight has been added to the programme: Rachmaninoff’s Suite for Two Pianos. Francis Rayner, our acclaimed accompanist regularly performs in the south east and will be joined for this stirring piece by Bernard King.

The suite comprises four sections including a waltz and a tarantella, but we shall have to resist dancing in the aisles. Tickets are available from the box office 01424 552119 or online through our website at www.hastingsphilchoir.org.uk but they are going fast.

The choir is very friendly and welcomes new members. We meet at the Tabernacle in Cambridge Road, at 7pm on Wednesdays (except March 18). For more information about joining call 01424 431442, visit the website or just turn up and join in.
