MAY was a busy month for our WI, starting with our successful Jack-in-the-Green tea event at the Jenny Lind, where we raised more than £300 for St Michael’s Hospice.
Our main meeting this month concentrated on gardening, with an absolutely brilliant talk about wild herbs from local plantswoman Heather Goodsell. We also launched our new gardening group with a plant and seed sale, a gardening book lending library, and a ‘guess the plant’ competition.
We were inundated with green things to sell, and the Gardening Table will be a regular feature at meetings from now on. During May, the gardeners went on two visits to open gardens, at Winchelsea and Sedlescombe.
In addition, our two book groups and the discussion group met this month, our walkers explored one of the new Ore trails, the craft group and our new ‘sewing bee’ group also met.
On May 20 a group of us went to the White Rock Theatre to see The Mousetrap. We had booked an upstairs VIP room, and some of us ate there first, before all assembling for pre-show drinks. A good time was had by all.
