THE LABOUR Party in Hastings has launched its manifesto for the forthcoming local elections on May 3.
Council leader Jeremy Birch believes the party has tried to honour all its pledges from the previous manifesto in 2010.
These included maintaining the grotbuster scheme, enforcing a street-drinking ban, reducing the council’s carbon footprint, improving the town’s leisure facilities and installing speed humps in the Old Town.
Writing in the manifesto, cllr Birch states: “We believe that even in these difficult economic times that Hastings and St Leonards is on the up with a proactive, determined and energetic Labour majority on the council.”
Speaking to the Observer, cllr Birch said: “We would encourage anyone who has any comments to make or would like to improve the manifesto to get in touch.” To view the manifesto visit www.hastingsandryelabour.org.uk/manifesto2012
