Coffee Box on The Ridge is hosting the Tides exhibition, which is a collaboration of photography and creative works by artists living in Hastings and 1066 Country.

A launch night, on Saturday September 5, will feature the work of local artists, dance, live music and film.

Joanna Thurston, the exhibition curator, said: “We’ve received some incredible submissions from local photographers and artists, culminating in an exhibition that really captures the heart of life in Hastings and the surrounding areas.

“It’s very exciting that at the launch night we have local musicians and dancers adding their interpretation of the theme as well.”

Tides is part of the Hastings and St Leonards Coastal Currents Art Festival and has been funded by King’s Church Hastings.

Coffee Box is located at the Hastings Centre on The Ridge, opposite the Conquest Hospital.

It is set in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and boasts a large outdoor patio with stunning views.

The photography exhibition will remain on display throughout the Coastal Currents Art Festival, which runs until September 13.

Coffee Box is owned by King’s Church as a social enterprise, meaning that they invest the profits back into the good of the local community, either through employing people who have been unemployed for some time and are looking for an opportunity to be trained and equipped with skills, or by donations to local charities such as Hastings Foodbank.

It is part of the international ‘Suspended Coffee’ movement, which means that you can buy any item from the menu for someone in need by asking for it to be ‘suspended’.
