Hastings Electronics and Radio Club

On Sun. 21st June, the club held its annual Field which incorporated the first Wilf Gaye Memorial Cup event. Members who were operating were scored according to contacts made on the day thanks to a ruleset devised by club members including Rob M0LYD, Antony G4CUS and Phil G3MGQ. The first winner of the WGMC was Phil G3MGQ. Phil was presented with the trophy by Wilf’s wife at the Taplin Centre shortly afterwards.

On Wed. 24th June, Leon (G1HSM) gave a presentation on the popular Raspberry Pi computer system. The meeting was well attended and proved to be an educational evening at the club as members discovered some of the many facets of cutting edge micro-computing.

On Wed. 22nd July, “Jakey” (G3JKY), will be giving a talk at the Taplin Centre on “Morse Memories” where he will share his personal experiences of Morse Code through the decades, recounting stories which are often told with a dash of light hearted humour.
