Hastings Electronics and Radio Club

Phil Parkman (G3MGQ), the club’s RSGB approved licence trainer, has had a very busy year in 2014 training new licencees resulting in many exam passes for his students.

Phil is also a trainer on the relatively new Bath Based Distance Learning Course, which is an internet-based training system for amateurs wishing to pass at the Advanced level. Since the BBADL started a few years ago, statistics show that more than 90 per cent of amateurs who take their Advanced exam after completing the online course pass their exam first time.

Later this month on January 31, the club will be holding its annual repeater auction, where a wide selection of used and surplus electronic equipment will be available to club members and the general public. The auction room will be open for viewing items at 1.30pm at the Holy Redeemer Church Hall with bidding due to start around 2.15pm. Funds raised will be donated to fund the local repeaters which form part of a nationwide communication network for both local and distant amateur radio operators.

For further information about the club, its activities and to make amateur radio licencing enquiries, please contact the club secretary, Gordon Sweet (M3YXH) on gordon@gsweet.fsnet.co.uk or via telephone on 01424 431909.
