Members and friends of Hastings and St Leonards Ladies Miniature Golf club met at the Azur on Tuesday, February 24 for a celebration lunch to mark the 90th birthday of the club.
An excellent lunch, served by the attentive staff of Azur, was enjoyed while overlooking the sea, bathed in glorious sunshine.
The chairman welcomed everyone and gave a short history of the club from its beginnings in 1925, and its many activities over the years. There have been times when the club has had to fight to retain its ground and clubhouse.
In 1995 the club submitted an embroidery which, along with those from other organisations, was included in a wall-hanging for the Town Hall, and in 2008 the club was represented by a floral clock at the entrance to Falaise Hall. There is to be a further informal celebration at the club’s next coffee morning on March 10.
Club members are looking forward to the start of the new season on April 14. Club Days are held on Tuesday afternoons until the end of September, and coffee mornings once a month during the winter, for members to keep in touch. There is a Good Cause Day, which this year will be in aid of Colleen’s Tenderheart Charity.
New members are always welcome at this friendly club, and anyone interested in joining should contact the new members organiser on 01424 718698.
