A FINAL round-up on our League season.

In Mid-Sussex League Division 1 we finished strongly for a probable third, finishing with wins against both champions Brighton & Hove and runners-up Worthing - pity about the earlier dropped results against mid-table teams.

The Worthing match was ours by 3-2, witth wins from John Sugden and Paul Kelly, draws from Howard Tebbs and Steve Blewitt, with Francis Rayner going down. Against Brighton the same score: the visitors gifted us a point by turning up a man short; Howard Tebbs won, Paul Kelly lost, and there were draws from John Sugden and Bernard Cafferty.

Our B team, in the same division, have again avoided relegation, finishing a probable 9th of 12. In their penultimate match they look like going down 3½-1½ at Horsham ‘B’: Alan Barton, Jim Wheeler and Gary Willson drew, Howard Tebbs lost and it looks like Ollie Willson’s unfinished game is also lost. They finished their programme with a commendable draw against Haywards Heath, 2½-2½: wins from Alan Barton and Bernard Cafferty, a draw from Jim Wheeler, losses by Bernard Cafferty and Mel Young.

Finally, our C team finished fifth in Division 2, despite losing their last match at Brighton & Hove C by 3-2: Ollie Willson and Paul Buswell won, Laurence Butt, Derek Cosens and Gary Willson lost.
