THE society’s 90th season started 2014 with a members evening. Finding something to show under the letters W,X,Y and Z, might not seem easy at first sight, but most of those present found stamps, covers or cards on a wide range of topics.
Thursday, January 16 saw a visit from Steve Cross, who gave a display on theme of Detectives. Steve’s lively and enthusiastic display covered all aspects of real and fictional sleuths, from early Greece to the modern Scandinavians, not forgetting the Holmes and Poirot in between.
Meetings for February take place on Thursdays, February 6 and 20. February 6 is a club auction night, all are welcome, membership not required, you might pick up a bargain. February 20 sees a visit from eminent philatelist, Mike Farrant FRPSL, who will display Zanzibar.
