THE meeting on December 10 was our Christmas party. As well as singing Christmas carols in both languages, we heard the nativity story in French and a story about Petit Papa Noel.
This was a revelation for those of us who have always wondered how Santa manages to deliver all round the world on the same night: apparently in France there is a whole village of Santas to do the job! Mystery solved! Afterwards we enjoyed a festive buffet together.
Our next meeting is on January 7 and will be our Fête des Rois et Saint Vincent. Combining the two events means we have an excuse to taste wine as well as eat the galettes.
Anyone interested in French culture is welcome but, for this particular event, a £1 contribution for wine (or apple juice) is expected. As usual, the venue is Holy Redeemer Church hall in Upper Church Road, St Leonards at 2.30pm.
