Hastings and District Anglo-French Club

OUR fortnightly meetings in the hall of Holy Redeemer Church, St Leonards continued to be lively in February.

On February 12, Robin Gray was telling us about television games in France. He showed us some of the French version of Countdown, which has been a popular series since before the English one was first televised over here. We were then invited to pit our wits against the contestants.

On February 26, Ian Shiner took us by film on a trip round Picardy. As he pointed out, for many tourists its chief attraction is the number of war cemeteries but in fact it has much more to offer.

We were shown the wild unspoilt beauty of the Baie de Somme and then taken to several cultural events and places of interest. It was wonderful to be introduced to this fresh view of the area.

Our next meeting, when the theme will be African, is on Tuesday, March 12 at the usual time of 2.30pm. Visitors and new members are welcome.
