THE way allotments in town are run is up for debate and council bosses are calling all allotment gardeners to voice their opinions.
From April 1 next year, Hastings Borough Council is proposing to introduce a new set of rules and changes to the tenancy agreement and wants to know what people think.
Councillor Trevor Webb, lead member for leisure and amenities, said: “We want to know what allotment owners think about the different options. Do you want the allotments managed by another organisation or how about a town-wide allotment association to manage these amenities? Perhaps you prefer to keep the status quo with us continuing to manage them?
“Whatever your opinion we are keen to hear your views. We have more than 600 plots to look after so any changes must be considered after consultation.
“You can visit www.hastings.gov.uk/consultations to read the documents and respond. The deadline for consultation is January 12.”
A set of the proposed rules and options for future management is also available in the Hastings Information Centre.
