Hastings woman Gladys Eldridge celebrated reaching the age of 100 with a big party at the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne surrounded by family.

Her 95-year-old brother also travelled down from Yorkshire with his children to mark the special occasion.

Gladys, who still lives independently, said the secret to a long life is to take care of yourself by staying fit and active, don’t smoke and don’t drink too much.
