A CHILDREN’S arts charity celebrated its eighth birthday on Saturday with the opening of a great new home.

Gizmo held a party at its centre, called Gizmo Gaffe, in Western Road, St Leonards.

A performance by the children was followed by a series of awards for the talented youngsters.

Hastings MP Amber Rudd was one of the scores of visitors who came to the event.

She said: “It is always a pleasure to see a Gizmo performance and it was even more special on Saturday as we were celebrating the eighth anniversary and handing out rewards and prizes to the talented children.

“It is fantastic that they now also have new premises in St Leonards.

“I congratulate Pat Fisher, founder of Gizmo, on her enthusiasm, dedication and leadership in making another Gizmo centre and for constantly inspiring the children around her.”

Ms Fisher said: “Our eight birthday, prize giving and launch of our sister project, Gizmo Gaffe was a great success and we are always appreciative of the support Amber gives to the children and young people of the area and we would like to offer our heartfelt thanks.”
