GIRL Guides from across Hastings and St Leonards held their first arts and crafts competition recently.

More than 160 entries were received and independent judges were invited to judge them. All members of the Hastings division of Girlguiding, from the youngest Rainbow to the oldest adult, were asked to submit work in various classes, ranging from photography to novelty cakes.

Parents and children had the chance to view the work on display at Sacred Heart School.

Organisers said the event went so well they plan to hold a similar one next year.
