GENEROUS shoppers helped raise £30,000 for the local branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.
During the last two years, volunteers from the charity collected cash once a month at the Sainsbury’s store in John Macadam Way, St Leonards.
They also raised cash through a tombola and sale of Christmas gifts and cards as well as RNLI souvenirs.
Last weekend the volunteers reached their milestone of £30,000.
Local branch chairman Arthur Miles said: “I would like to Thank Sainsbury’s for choosing us as their charity over the past two years, and a big thank you to Tracy Blackman at the storey for arranging our collections here and other attractions.
“We must also thank the general public for putting money into our buckets. And we are very pleased to hand over to Sainsbury’s a shield from the RNLI marking their great support over the last two years.”
