Future of troubled pub up for discussion in council

Have your say

THE FUTURE of an Old Town pub which has attracted complaints about noise and violence will be discussed at a licensing committee meeting later this month.

Councillors will meet at the Town Hall on October 25 to discuss what to do with the London Trader in East Beach Street.

The pub has come under the spotlight in recent months after police said there had been a number of incidents of violence.

Hastings Old Town Residents Association had complained about loud music coming from the pub affecting members quality of life and a nearby guest house owner said his front windows had been smashed on two separate occasions.

The options set to be discussed are modifying the conditions of the licence, removing the premises supervisor, removing an aspect of the licence, suspending the licence or revoking the licence.

The Licensing Sub Committee was due to decide on the pub’s future last Thursday (October 6) but the meeting was adjourned for two weeks. It will be held in Committee Room One at the Town Hall starting at 3pm.
