Homelessness charity Emmaus Hastings & Rother is holding an open day at its shop and cafe on October 16 as part of Hastings Week.

The event will be formally opened by the Mayor at noon, and visitors are welcome to Whitworth Road, St Leonards to see the community in action, learn more about the operation and hear about future plans.

The event runs from noon to 4pm and the cafe will be open, selling hot and cold drinks and cakes and biscuits. Emmaus aims to help people move on from homelessness by giving them a home and work in a supportive environment. Residents work in the shop and warehouse, restoring and reselling donated furniture and household goods. To find out more visit www.emmaus.org.uk/hastings_rother.
