AN artist who is reinvogorating one of the town’s ancient pathways has been given a boost from the council.
Judy Dewsbery has won £500 from the Hastings Borough Council (HBC) small grants fund to promote her ‘Walk of Art’ which links the Old Town and Alexander Park over the West Hill.
She will be producing a brochure to guide people along the route and point out some of the landmarks.
She said: “This is a heritage footpath.
“Before there was an accessible route to what is now St Leonards, the sea reached the cliffs in Hastings at high tide - this can be seen in Turner’s paintings.”
Between 10am and 1pm on Sunday, Judy will be opening her house at The Beacon for people to learn more about the path.
The Beacon can be reached from the West Hill on the track below St Mary’s Terrace. Call 01424 431305 or email email@example.com for more information.
