As part of this year’s Afrikaba festival, and to celebrate the 2012 Big Draw, a free workshop for families is being held at Hastings Museum & Art Gallery this Saturday, 13th October.

Using some unusual & fun drawing techniques, ‘Mapping Yourself’ with Brighton-based artist Irene Mensah will enable you to explore your own or your family’s history to create a unique artwork. Irene incorporates drawing, poetic text & performance in her own work and will be on hand to help you at the workshop.

A group of pupils from St Pauls School participated in the workshop on Wednesday (10th) and Cllr Emily Westley, lead member for leisure said: “This is a really creative way to explore family history and I would urge families to attend the free workshops on Saturday. All materials are provided. -all you need to bring along is your imagination!”

The two free workshops will be held 11am – 1pm and 1.30pm – 3.30pm.
