Footballer to face sex assault trial

A PROFESSIONAL footballer from St Leonards is set to face trial on charges of sexual assault and voyeurism relating to an alleged incident at a hotel.

Steve Cook, who plays for Bournemouth FC, will appear at Lewes Crown Court on August 3.

The 21-year-old from Perth Road was arrested in January along with three footballers from Brighton and Hove Albion FC.

Anton Rodgers, 19, of Highview Avenue North, Brighton, Lewis Dunk, 20, of Woodbourne Avenue, Brighton, George Barker, 20, of Highview Aveneue North and Cook appeared before Brighton Magistrates Court last Friday for a committal hearing. (July 6)

All four deny charges of sexually assaulting a woman and voyeurism at the Jury’s Inn Hotel in Brighton in July last year. They were granted conditional bail.
