First chaplain unveiled to vets

THE Hastings and St Leonards Veterans Association has appointed its first chaplain.

The Reverend Robert Featherstone was unveiled to members earlier this week and is already planning a service for later this month.

Rev Featherstone conducted the memorial service for Commonwealth War dead during the recent visit by the association’s new patron, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.

And after being named as the branch’s chaplain he told members he felt ‘truly honoured to be enrolled’ and would be available to give any veteran support and guidance.

On Wednesday, June 22nd, he will lead a ceremony at St Clements Church in the Old Town from 7pm, with the association unveiling a new set of colours.

Veterans will parade from the High Street to the church and anyone planning on taking part should meet at the car park at the bottom of High Street.
