FIREFIGHTERS had to knock out masonry in a front doorway and adapt a makeshift stretcher to lift a near 25 stone woman out of her home into an ambulance last night (WEDS).
A crew from The Ridge station was called to the property in Mount Pleasant Road just before 11pm to assist paramedics.
They removed brickwork from the front door area to accommodate the width of the stretcher and carried the patient out to the ambulance.
A specialist heart treatment team was sent to the address and the fire team returned to base at 12.19am this morning.
The full extent of the woman’s condition was not known. Firefighters estimated her weight was between 24 and 26 stone.
