CAMPAIGNERS fighting to save Hastings Pier face an anxious wait to see if their lottery bid has been successful.
A team from the Heritage Lottery Fund was in town earlier this month to run the rule over Hastings Pier and White Rock Trust’s application and a decision was due on Wednesday.
However, because of the forthcoming referendum on electoral reform and local elections, the trust will not be told until May 10.
The trust wants £8million. But, with an overall pot of just £30million and heavyweight rivals including the Imperial War Museum, the odds are stacked against the trust.
Chairman Ray Chapman said the group remained hopeful.
