SOUTH AMERICA came to St Leonards recently, when a local pub staged an exotically themed charity night in aid of the Third World.

A host of musical talent gathered at The Crown House, Marina, and helped raise £473 for impoverished residents of Quetzeltenango, a large city in Guatemala.

Organiser Claire Hamill, a singer-songwriter herself, chose a South American theme, brought to a climax when the whole pub sang Livin’ La Vida Loca.

The cash will be handed to a charity based in Guatemala that distributes food and medicine to the hill people in Quetzeltenango.
