Hastings wins top Seaside Awards again

Marina beach has been awarded both the coveted Blue Flag award and the Seaside Award, while Pelham Beach has also been awarded the Seaside Award.

This summer, 68 beaches across England will be flying a Blue Flag Award after meeting the highest standards for cleanliness, facilities and water quality, and 117 beaches have been presented with the Seaside Award by Keep Britain Tidy.

The awards recognise and reward beaches in England that achieve the highest standards of beach management and, in the case of bathing beaches, meet water quality guidelines.

“This is the second year in a row that Marina beach has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag, a fantastic result for Hastings and it reflects the hard work and commitment given by the council and other partners to make this happen,” said Aaron Woods, resort manager for Hastings Borough Council.

He added: “We are very proud of our beaches which attract many visitors every year. The Seaside Award and Blue flags will be flying high giving residents and holiday makers in Hastings reassurance that our beaches offer the best facilities and cleanest beaches this summer.”
