A DAY-LONG workshop for those seeking advice with applying for a job is to be held at Sussex Coast College on Wednesday, May 29.

The employability workshop organised by Jobcentre Plus and Sussex Coast College in partnership with Hastings Direct and Business in the Community, will take place in the atrium of the college, in Station Plaza, from 10.30am to 4pm.

Anyone who is unemployed is welcome to attend, regardless of age, but everyone will be expected to participate fully.

The day will begin with an opportunity for delegates to watch a job interview and to provide feedback on what might be improved.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to receive comments and feedback on their CVs and to attend a mock interview, again with some structured feedback available.

Ian Noble, from Business in the Community, said: “To ensure that we have enough interviewers to meet the expected demand, we are recruiting anyone with careers advice/ HR experience to offer their services on the day.

“If anyone would like to be involved, please do get in touch.”

Employers who participate will receive ‘Own Grown’ accreditation and can register their willingness to get involved by calling 07801 250668.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to register online at www.sussexcoast.ac.uk/employers.html or by calling 01424 451795.

In addition to this event there are a range of opportunities that are available for employers to invest in young people via the ‘pledge’ page at www.owngrown.org.uk.
