Eating out scheme for the disabled

A SCHEME has been launched to make eating out easier for people with disabilities and families with disabled children.

Eat @ The Stade is the first restaurant to take part in the project run by the charity Play Sense, which provides participating premises with cutlery, specialist cups and other equipment to help those with additional needs.

A sticker stating ‘Play Sense Equipment Available Here’ will be displayed in these restaurants and cafes.

The first sets of specialist equipment are being funded with £800 raised by Harry Pertwee from his completion of a triathlon last year.

Play Sense organisers have thanked him for the donation.

Paula Everest, chairman of Play Sense, said: “This is a positive move towards making life a little easier for people with disabilities and families with disabled children.”
