A WEEKEND of Easter fun awaits youngsters in St Leonards – with a local group holding two days of family fun.
The Burtons’ St Leonards Society is holdings its fourth annual Easter celebrations in St Leonards Gardens – with locals encouraged to head along.
On Saturday, April 23, children will be able to take part in some light-hearted egg rolling from 1pm – although organisers are quick to remind people to prepare fully.
A spokesman for the group said: “People need to bring their own hard-boiled eggs to roll and make sure they are boiled properly.
“Last year someone brought an ostrich egg – but forgot to boil it. What a mess.”
Then, on Sunday, from noon, there will be an Easter egg hunt for youngsters aged 12 and under. Children need to first register at the South Lodge before setting off to find hard-boiled eggs hidden in the gardens – which are then changed for chocolate ones.
The Burtons’ St Leonards Society is putting on the event with the help of the Friends of The Gardens and it will also include a display in the South Lodge showing how James Burton built the area from scratch more than 150 years ago.
