OUR branch rounded 2012 off in November with our guest speaker Sophie Long talking about her apprenticeship with the Royal School of Needlework where she studied hand embroidery.
Sophie bought along a selection of the work she undertook during her apprenticeship which included goldwork, whitework and stumpwork all of which were all stunning and much admired by all our members.
We start 2013 with a New Year’s Tea Party on Saturday, January 19 at 2pm. This will be an informal meeting and a chance to catch up with members and hear more details of our 2013 programme which has a variety of interesting speakers, stitch and chat sessions as well as two all day workshops.
The all day workshops are in addition to the regular monthly meetings, the first one will be held at the beginning of March led by Wendy Dolan and the second will be at the beginning of November and led by Claire Buckley.
Meetings are open to non-members who are very welcome to come along as a visitor and see what we do. Monthly meetings are held on the third Saturday commencing at 2pm in St Peter’s Community Centre, Old Town Bexhill and for more details contact either our programme secretary Brenda Amberge on 01424 731371 or our chairman Beverley Blanch on 01825 765267.
Our group is small, but very enthusiastic, friendly and welcoming, so if you have an interest in textiles and/or embroidery would like to learn a new skill or brush up your techniques we would be happy to hear from you.
