CHILDREN and staff at Elphinstone School were treated to a special visit at the Duchess of Gloucester came to celebrate the school’s own diamond jubilee.

She enjoyed a tour of the school and spoke to members of the School Learning Council about the changes that have been made. The Duchess then took part in an outdoor maths lesson in the school’s nature garden, as well as visiting some classrooms and speaking to pupils.

At the end of the visit Elphinstone School held an assembly in which the school choir gave a performance of the Diamond Jubilee song, Sing.

Tsai Tenn, headteacher of Elphinstone School, said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the Duchess’s visit and before she left, she unveiled a plaque commemorating our 60th anniversary.”
