THE DRIVER of this car walked away unscathed after ploughing into a telegraph pole which landed on its roof.

The man was driving the nine-year-old Honda Accord along Bexhill Road, St Leonards around 2pm last Wednesday (Nov 20) when it left the road and careered straight through the pole outside the Peugeot garage knocking it clean over.

Chris Dadswell was in his house at the time. He said: “I didn’t hear the bang but when I went out I was amazed the man got out alive and unscathed. He could’ve been killed. The pole put a dent in the car roof. Our phone lines and internet were all down too.”

Paramedics checked the man over at the scene was he was not hurt

The accident damaged a garden wall and wires were left hanging low across the road causing traffic delays which were cleared with an hour.

Mr Dadswell added: “It is a busy road but we have no idea what caused the accident. How on earth he ended up there is anyone’s guess.”
