Four-legged friends of all shapes and sizes took part in a Doggie Flashmob on Hastings Pier yesterday (Saturday, April 30).

Sixty-two dogs and their owners met at the pier at noon to protest against rules banning dogs from the recently-opened structure during the summer months.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are allowed onto the pier during the off-peak season (September 30 - April 30) but not during the peak summer months, starting from today (May 1).

Dogs are not allowed on the terrace deck or at events at any time of the year.

However assistance dogs are always welcome.

Dog owners who took part in yesterday’s protest say they hope the demonstration will lead to the Hastings Pier Charity reconsidering its policy on pooches.
