DO you know someone who goes out of their way to help others or has selflessly run a community club or organisation for many years?

Then why not put them forward for a Hastings Achievers Award?

Scheduled to take place next month, this exciting annual event honours those members of the local community who help to make life worthwhile.

The good neighbours, courageous citizens, outstanding charities and many, many more people who make Hastings such an exceptional place - and improve quality of life for everyone.

The Achievers Awards are free to attend.

And in case you think ‘I don’t know anyone who I could nominate, think again! There is a category for every kind of ‘local hero’.

Do you know someone who is exceptional? Can you imagine how thrilled they would be, receiving well-deserved applause and coming forward to accept an award in recognition of all they do for other people or for their community?

Each year, the Hastings Achievers Awards sets out to recognise local heroes - and heroines - from all walks of life. These are the people who work day in, day out, helping to make a difference to the lives of others.

Often, ‘local heroes’ are the kind of individuals - or the kind of clubs of societies -who work quietly in the background, and don’t demand any attention for themselves. It’s for this very reason that they deserve recognition.

An exciting event - and it’s free! Entries for the Hastings Achievers Awards are easy to complete. If you do wish to make a nomination, there’s no time to waste!

This year, the ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 10 at Sussex Coast College, the college is this year’s headline sponsors.

An exciting and uplifting evening, the celebration will highlight instances of courage, commitment and kindness as well as examples of outstanding professionalism, exceptional customer service and real concern for the environment.

Who is eligible? This year, the categories under which you can nominate are: Carer of the Year, Person of Courage, Pet Carer of the Year, Best Sports Team, Young Sports Person of the Year, Sports Personality of the Year, the Environment Award, Best Community Group, Services to Education, Service with a Smile, Charity of the Year, Resident of the Year, the Building Bridges Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
