THIS year’s Battle of Hastings Proms will take place on June 30 in Alexandra Park.
Returning after last year’s sell-out success, the evening promises to be another orchestral extravaganza.
Roger Wilcock returns to conduct his BIG Choir, who’ll be playing all the traditional proms favourites, including Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia, and the Dambusters.
Phil Astell, who is helping to organise the event, said: “Last year’s inaugural proms was hugely popular - in fact we sold out of tickets.
“Many people took the opportunity to dress in black tie, crack open a bottle of champagne, and wave their Union Jack flags. The atmosphere was electric.”
Like its sister event, the Hastings Beer and Music Festival, all proceeds from the Battle of Hastings Proms go to help local good causes and charities and both are organised by local fundraisers the Hastings Round Table.
Table chairman Gus Wakeford said: “Last year the beer festival and proms raised more than £35,000 for local charities.
“We’re determined that this year’s events will raise even more to benefit our local community.”
Tickets to both events are on sale now at the Hastings Information Centre, or by calling 01424 451111.
