Dart Valley Stompers in Hastings tonight
Preview: Dart Valley Stompers, 1066 Jazz Club, Azur, St Leonards, Tonight, 8pm.
Making their long journey from South Devon for their annual visit to the 1066 Jazz Club come the Dart Valley Stompers.
Formed recently in 2005, their vowed intention is to play, lively, exciting music in the New Orleans and Traditional styles of jazz. The six-piece line up features some of the top musicians in the UK and they quickly gelled into an efficient unit and established a reputation in the West Country.
Happily, since then the band has widened their geographical horizons and have featured in the top jazz clubs in the southern half of the country.
The band has four musicians who can double up on instruments, so producing a wide variety of sounds whilst never straying from their intent to provide top quality jazz in the Traditional genre.
Line-up: Graham Trevarton (cornet), Jeremy Huggett (reeds), Ron Milford (trombone), John Whitlock (banjo/guitar), Tony Mann (string bass/tuba) and Ron Berry (drums).
