D-Day theme to concert

Bexhill branch of the Royal Air Forces Association has been successful in again booking the RAFA Presidents's Band for its annual Wings Appeal charity concert.

The 35-piece band includes many former members of the Central Band of the RAF and scored a success with last year's concert on behalf of Bexhill RAFA.

Branch president Ken Igglesden is delighted to have secured the band.

The venue for the concert on June 6 will be St Augustine's Church and, being the anniversary of the 1944 Normandy Invasion the programme will have a D-Day theme.

The branch holds a fund-raising St David's Day Quiz at the RAFA Club at Channel View West on Saturday, February 28, for teams of four, starting at 7.30pm.

Other events in the RAFA diary include the monthly coffee morning at the RAFA Club on Wednesday, March 4 from 10.30am until noon; the Wings Appeal Spring Fair on Saturday, April 18; Air Vice Marshal Graham Jones, secretary general of RAFA, as guest speaker at the annual lunch at Cooden Beach Golf Club on May 19 and the Wings Gala at the RAFA Club on Saturday, August 1.
