PEDAL power dominated The Stade on Saturday, July 23, as cyclists descended on the seafront.
More than 100 people turned up to take part in a bike-themed event, organised by the Hastings Urban Bikes (HUB) group.
The Beautiful Bicycle Afternoon, as it was called, proved popular with locals who brought their bikes along to decorate and to fix, courtesy of the Bike Doctor who was on hand to help.
Hastings Borough Council officers and councillors gave away almost 100 free bicycle bells to encourage safe cycling on the new route which was opened by the Mayor, Councillor Kim Forward.
Patrick Nicholson, representing HUB, said: “There was a good turnout with around 100 people passing through during the afternoon. Around 15 free bike checks were performed and the children’s bike decoration was a great success.
“One elderly local couple commented on how nice it was to see children cycling around the new Stade open space on their colourfully decorated bikes. It felt like another very positive step for the profile of cycling in the town.”
