Crowhurst Horticultural Society ran its big annual Summer Flower Show in the marquee on the village recreation ground on August 13 as part of Crowhurst Fayre.
Horticultural Society treasurer Alan Humphrey said: “The sun shone and we had many entries of beautiful flowers, amazing vegetables and inspiring children’s entries alongside photographs, craft work and tasty cookery.
“The local Playgroup, Crowhurst Primary School, Brownies and Cubs also submitted some lovely entries to make some wonderful displays.
“Our local bee-keepers also put on another Honey Bee display with their live honey bee observation hive which attracted a lot of interest from visitors.
“The society ran a lovely plant stall outside the marquee and a free children’s art competition inside to shelter them from the sun
“Overall the Society was delighted with how the day ran.
“During the afternoon, as part of prize-giving, a special dedication of a lovely rose filled, inscribed vase was made to the family of June Kemp, who was a past founder and life member of the society and who we very very sadly lost earlier this year.
“This vase will always be displayed by our Trophy Winner’s Journal at each show filled with flowers in memory of June.”
Crowhurst Horticultural Society’s next and last flower show of the year is the Autumn Flower show, which will be held in the village hall on September 17.
Doors open from 2pm and there is free entry on the day to visit.
Alan Humphrey said: “We welcome entries form all into the show and for a schedule please refer to our website www.crowhursthorticultural.co.uk Come and see us. We would love to meet you .”
