Two illustrators are urging the public to get behind their bid to publish a new guide book celebrating all that is wonderful and eccentric about Hastings and St Leonards.

Rachel Heavens and Ness Mann set up Cheeky Peek Publications a year ago, inspired by their mutual love of books.

Both women are talented illustrators and have created a beautiful publication showcasing all that Hastings and St Leonards has to offer.

Rachel said: “Our guide book will be a 100-page visual delight with illustrations, photos and information about how to find the best and most interesting places to visit in both towns.

“The book will also appeal to locals as a lot of the pages will cover the humour, history and heritage of both towns, including some great stories sourced from local people.

“We feel that the timing of our book is perfect with all the exciting things happening here such as the pier, the skatepark, the numerous new businesses popping up and overall regeneration.

“The number of people visiting and investing in property has risen significantly so we felt there was an opportunity for a really great book to show off to visitors all that is unique about these towns.

“It’s a celebration of all that is wonderful and eccentric about Hastings and St Leonard’s and we feel that the towns will benefit from our colourful and positive perspective.”

Rachel and Ness will be launching a crowdfunding video this weekend (September 5 and 6) as part of the ongoing Coastal Currents Arts Festival.

Rachel said: “We are part of open studios and people can come and watch the video and talk to us there as well as get a ‘cheeky peek’ into the work we have been creating for the book.

“Our studio is Laser Lane and can be found in page 56 of the Coastal Currents brochure.”

Laser Lane studios can be found in the lane behind Kings Road and will be open to the public between 10am-6pm.

The money Rachel and Ness are hoping to raise will cover the first print run of the book.

Rachel said: “Once the crowdfunding page is set up people can go to it and pre-order their book as well as donate if they wish.

“There will be other products and prizes for supporting our crowd fund.

“People just need to go
to www.crowdfunder.co.uk and look for Cheeky Peek Studio.

“Our Facebook page is CheekyPeek Publications.”
