A TEENAGE vandal who smashed a glass front door after being thrown out of a party has been given a conditional discharge.
Giancarlo Parkin, 19, of Eversfield Place, St Leonards, admitted causing criminal damage when he appeared at Hastings Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Mark Kateley, prosecuting, said Parkin was at the bash in Cambridge Gardens on January 8.
“There were a number of people there having a drink and at some point he fell into an argument with others at the premises. He ended up making a nuisance of himself and at one stage was swinging his belt around. He was asked to leave along with some of his friends, but after he was escorted out there was a sound of smashing glass and he was seen to break the front door of the flat.”
Parkin has a string of previous convictions including one for criminal damage in 2006, the court heard.
Aiden Harvey, defending, said Parkin had a good record of complying with court orders and was due to start an alcohol treatment programme this week.
He also said he suffered from various mental health issues that were being addressed. “He had no intention of breaking the glass, but he was banging on it to get into the flat and obviously banged on it too hard,” said Mr Harvey.
Parkin was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £20 costs.
