Shop worker threatened in night-time hold-up

A TERRIFIED shop worker was forced to hand over cash during a late-night robbery at a St Leonards shop on Tuesday (March 22).

The two men grabbed £90 from the till before filling a carrier bag with cigarettes, took bottles of spirits before making off from the Premier Marina Convenience Store in Marine Court at around 10pm.

Detective Sergeant Julie Gable, of Hastings CID, said the shop assistant was threatened with violence unless he opened the till.

The two robbers ran west along the seafront with the takings.

Both men were white and aged between 18 and 20.

They wore light-coloured hooded tops which covered most of their faces and hair. The first man was slim and around 5ft 8ins tall. The second was slightly shorter at around 5ft 5ins.

DS Gable said: “This was a frightening incident for the cashier who was threatened by these men.

“We are interested in speaking to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen them prior to the robbery, or anything else suspicious.”
