Service launched to help older people stay independent

A NEW housing support service has been launched for older people in East Sussex.

STEPS to Stay Independent is designed to help the over-65s to stay living independently in their own homes.

Support workers will make home visits and help people to deal with housing issues, including debts, join in with activities in the local community, or even find more suitable accommodation if needed.

STEPS is a county-wide project, funded by East Sussex County Council, through the Supporting People partnership, with the service provided by two organisations, Eastbourne Homes in the west and In Touch in the east.
