A VISITOR to Hastings swore and shouted at police as they were trying to deal with a crime.

Christopher Collinge, 20, was in Havelock Road at about 3am on Sunday when he became abusive towards two police officers.

He attempted to walk past them into an area they were preserving as a crime scene and when asked not to do so he became abusive by screaming and swearing at them.

Collinge was arrested and taken to Hastings police station and later charged with obstructing police and using threatening words and behaviour. He was denied bail and remanded into police custody to appear before Hastings magistrates on Monday.

Collinge, from Folkestone in Kent, pleaded guilty to the two charges and was fined £100 and ordered to pay £25 costs.
