Raid finds drugs worth thousands

A POLICE raid on a flat netted thousands of pounds worth of drugs.

Mohamed Kamara, 29, of Clyde Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and possessing a knife in a public place while Howard Miller, 41, of Southwater Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and cocaine, when the pair appeared at Hastings Magistrates Court.

Mark Kateley. prosecuting, said: “Police searched Miller’s Southwater Road flat on the morning of June 29.

“There was a strong smell of cannabis and a joint was found in the lounge.

“A coat hanging on a door in the bedroom contained 112 grammes of cocaine with a street value of between £3,000 and £4,000, which he said was for his personal use.

“Police searched Kamara’s vehicle, parked outside, and found a lock-knife and 21 grammes of cannabis.

“Both men are of previous good character.”

Father-of-three Miller told the court that he regretted the incident and no longer uses drugs.

Kamara told magistrates that he is addressing his drugs problem with the help of his GP.

Miller received an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, for possession of cocaine, with no penalty for possession of cannabis, and was given a six-month community order.

Kamara was fined £50 and ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work.
