Policeman still suspended two months after text allegations

THE town’s top policeman remains suspended more than two months after allegations that he sent an ‘offensive’ text message.

Chief Inspector Mark Ling was told of the decision by his bosses back on June 7 as Sussex Police launched a misconduct investigation into the claims.

But more than two months later he remains off duty after being stood down from his role.

Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Taylor has been drafted in to take charge while the disciplinary process runs its course.

A spokesman for Sussex Police refused to say when the matter would be concluded, saying inquiries were ‘still ongoing’.

“The matter is still under investigation,” he said.
