POLICE are desperate to track down a man wanted in connection with a recent sexual assault.

Sirazul Islam, 24, was due to answer bail in March following his arrest on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman in Warrior Square back on February 1.

However, he failed to do so and subsequent attempts to contact him have drawn a blank – with officers convinced he is no longer living at his former Norman Road, St Leonards, home.

Islam, who was arrested shortly after the attack, has also left his job in a local restaurant.

The woman was walking her dog in Warrior Square Gardens at around 7.30pm when she was approached by a man. They chatted briefly before the man touched her inappropriately, tried to kiss her and pull her into some nearby bushes before she managed to break free and run off.

Islam is described as Bangladeshi, 5ft 6in, of medium build with short dark hair and brown eyes. He has limited English.

Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999.
