VANDALS have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage by throwing paint stripper onto parked cars.
Police said between 9pm on Tuesday, June 26 and 7.45am the next day a silver Peugeot 206 and a red Citroen C4, which were in Braybrooke Road, had a corrosive substance, believed to be paint stripper thrown over them.
Around £1,000 worth of damage was caused to each car. Only two cars were damaged in the road.
PC Emma Basson, who is investigating, said: “This is a particularly extreme case of mindless vandalism to two cars. The paint stripper has been poured over the body work leaving the owners with the task of sorting out the damage and the inconvenience of the time it takes to make repairs.
We are appealing for any witnesses to these offences. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting serial 219 of 27/06 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
