A WOULD-BE mugger was left empty-handed after her victim managed to wriggle free and raise the alarm.
The 45-year-old woman was using the Briscoe’s Walk cut through, which runs alongside Summer Fields, last Thursday evening when she was grabbed by a younger woman in a hooded top.
The attacker spun her round and demanded money and valuables but the victim was able to get away and raise the alarm. The woman was left shaken but unhurt and did not have anything stolen.
DC Mike Pearson is appealing for any witnesses who might have seen the incident – which happened at about 6pm - to come forward. The mugger is described as white, about 5ft 6ins tall, in her late teens or early 20s with a pale complexion and dark hair which was tied back. She was wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans.
She had come from the direction of Holmesdale Gardens and police believe she had been walking with a man before the attack.
